What these tools are for
Almost everything in this category is one relationship expressed several ways: at a given tempo, a beat has a duration in milliseconds, and every delay time, LFO rate and reverb pre-delay you might want is a musical fraction of it. Get that one number and the rest is arithmetic.
The reason it is worth calculating rather than eyeballing is that "close enough" delay times smear the groove instead of reinforcing it. A dotted-eighth delay that is 8 ms out drifts audibly over a bar, and sidechain release that does not match the beat leaves a pump that fights the kick rather than breathing with it.
Note frequency works the same way from a different starting point — equal temperament fixes every pitch relative to A4, so once you set the reference (440 Hz is standard, but not universal) every note and every harmonic follows.
