What these tools are for
The cost of a 3D print is rarely the plastic. Filament is usually the smallest line: machine time, electricity, the failure rate you actually run at, and your own labour in setup and post-processing dominate anything but the largest parts. A pricing model that only counts grams will undercharge consistently.
Failure rate is the figure people leave out and then quietly absorb. If one print in ten fails, every successful print has to carry that cost, and a nominal 10% buffer is not optional padding — it is the difference between a hobby and a business.
FDM and resin have different cost shapes. Resin adds consumables and a wash-and-cure step that FDM does not have, so the two are not interchangeable in a single model.
