We normalize your four drinker-mix percentages so they always sum to 100%, then apply the "1 drink per person per hour" rate only to drinking guests (wine + beer + spirits) for the full event duration — non-drinkers are tracked separately for soft drinks.
The "1 drink per person per hour" figure is a standard event-planning rule of thumb: guests typically drink a little more in the first hour and a little less as the night goes on, so treat it as a solid baseline rather than a hard limit. When in doubt, round up — running out of drinks is far worse than having a few unopened bottles left over.
